Strange Oscillation Felt in Steering Upon Brisk Acceleration V70-XC70 1999

Hard to describe this sensation... but definitely does not feel right. The car shifts perfectly, is smooth as glass on the highway, and seems to run absolutely perfectly. Light acceleration from standstill is very smooth.

However.... upon brisk acceleration... putting my foot into a bit more... I get a sensation of the steering wheel moving and vibrating a bit. It doesn't make a discernable noise when doing this, but it certainly feels wrong. It's so hard to describe... it's almost as if I'm pushing a shopping cart where a front wheel is loose and pivoting aimlessly!

I've had alignment work recently, and a tie rod replaced that was worn. But that work resulted in a much smoother car. Also, I believe it did this before. We've only owned the car a couple of months.

Steering? Suspension? Axles? Drive shaft? One thing that was pointed out to me (when I had the above work done) was that the tires appear to be very old as they have dry rot! But they do have tread.

Suggestions/ideas are appreciated!!

Thanks...

Steve
