I have a '95 850 sedan non-turbo, with 166,000 miles. I recently noticed I was about a quart low on oil after about 3,000 miles...way more than I would like to see gone. I also have not been getting the mileage I did at first(3 years ago). I used to get 29-31 mpg and now get 26-28 mpg on the interstate. Then just the other day I thought I would take a look at the flame trap to see if it was dirty or clogged. It was clear, but there was a lot of oil build up in the air intake hose (normal?). Is this were I am loosing my oil. There are no oil leaks and I am not burning any from what I can tell. I am curious if the PCV system is possibly the culprit of both issues. I know that a improperly working PCV system can affect gas mileage and oil consumption. Is there something I should be checking specifically? Any help is much appreciated.
