DIY alternator replacement worthwhile?? V70-XC70 1999

Car was dying on the drive to work and only hope to not be stranded on the side of the highway was to drive to the dealer 2 miles away. I was lucky because the car was losing power as I pulled into the service department. Troubleshooting revealed the alternator was bad and my power steering reservoir had a slow leak that was dripping on the alternator (not conclusive but could bave contributed to the failure).

At any rate I was quoted $720 for parts/labor! Ouch...I feel violated. They want $442 for the part and the rest for labor. I can get a remanufactured Bosch from fcpgroton for $260, but how difficult is the replacement?? From what I read, I have to pull a bunch of crap off to even get to the alternator. What I want to know from folks that have done it on ths car was the level of difficulty. I've done the replacement on my 240 before, but access was pretty easy.

Thanks in advance for any input...
