Looking for some opinions on buying a different volvo-convertible

Hi folks-Im been driving mainly rear wheel drive volvos for years-have had an XC the past three years-no problems with that-I love the car. A freind of mine was a big honda dude--I found a low milage 98 V70 that I checked for him-he bought it and no problems-great car. Now-he is looking at a C70 convertible-2000 to lets say 2003 due to his price range capabilities. Like other front wheel drive volvos-I told him the newer-the better overall. Anyone have any opiunions on what years to avoid or look into--talking about the 70 series with a convertible top-what ever they are called-not really sure myself-never really got into them-but-trying to help an ex-honda loving volvo freind-thanks
