ABS module question 850 1997

Just picked up a 1997 850 T5 wagon as a replacement for my aging 240. It has the ABS light coming on intermittently so it seems likely that I should be sending the module off to Victor Rocha for repair. Is there an easy way to confirm that the module is at fault and not, say, just a wheel sensor? The shop that the previous owner took it to said it was the module, but they're not a volvo specialist and I am not sure what they based that diagnosis on.
