walking through the showroom and they have a used 2005(5k mi) 6 speed volvo v-50 t-5 wagon(fwd). i hate automatic transmissions, by the way.
so i ask the salesman. "that's a nice little car, but i don't know about that stick transmission. i heard they are hard to drive. how much? he says "$29k. and its a steal. the 6 speed is at a premium you know.""
i say,
"sheesh! that's way too much for me! seems to me it should have an automatic transmission for that kind of money. well, thanks anyway."
he says,
"well, we can work with you, sir."
(its nice being 60. all the salesmen are kids.)
i made him a ridiculously low offer.
he said,
"that's a ridiculously low offer, sir."
i said,
"that's all i got, kid."
so we settled on $22k.

had it since may. the thing is a little rocket ship. gets a tad under 30mpg. like it a lot so far.
got $3k for the old wagon(1990, 135 kmi). the lady totaled it a week later. she was fine. told me she's glad she was in a volvo.
