parking brake pulls up easy now! S70 1998

My parking brake on my S70 has aways worked fine. The other day, I pull up on it and it was VERY easy to pull on and it did very little to stop the car from rolling on a hill (it did a little, but not very much). It doesn't seem that the brake cable is broken cause I can feel a little drag...but something definately has happened. Is this a common problem and any ideas on what to look at first?
