OK, I give up. I've owned the car since March and can't identify this.

Open the hood and at 12 O'Clock on the fire wall just behind the engine is a sensor/device that is round, about 4" in diameter, and looks like the horn off my old 72 Beetle. My Chilton's manual is useless on this one. Shows it in an engine bay photo but no identification.

I hate not knowing what something is.
