I own a Volvo 850 2.0 litres 20 valve, I bought this car 3 months ago and I haven't been able to drive it yet!!!
When I went to pick it up 3 months ago , 20 miles on the journey to get back to home and the engine blew up, perforated piston was the verdict from a garage.Then I found another engine with 80.000 miles on it from a well known place in uk, the engine came with 3 months warranty. I had the engine fitted 2 weeks ago and is temparmental on starting. The 2 engines are the same, they share the same injecton system. I am a member of the Volvo owners club in the uk and I have already been asking questions to them and following their suggestions but I am still stuck.
Firstly I'd like to specify what the engine does , it can start in the morning and run fine but soon after its switched off it won't start, can start maybe after 10 minutes or 10 hours.I've done the diagnostic and it gave me 2 faults, in the RPM sensor and camshaft sensor, so I replaced both of these with no change in the engine behavior, then I started to clean all the connections , changed the spark plugs, the rotor, the arm rotor, the ignition switch , all of these invane , then yesterday I decided to change the coil , did that and the engine started , I switched it off and restarted again, I went for a drive and all seemed fine ,the only thing I didn't like was the performance of the engine it seemed a bit sleepy to me but I was over the moon to have it working. Well this morning I went there and the same old story again I cannot believe it and this time it won't start at all!
I apologise for the length of this letter but I really need help otherwise I have only one solution left , the scrappy.
