1996 850R estate - auto transmission module/ computer problem 850

Hi
I have an intermittent problem with the auto transmission computer/sensor or module.... I think its the actual computer...well that's what I have been told by a Volvo mechanic. The car is an 850R estate Auto with only 127,000 km on it

What's happening is on some cold mornings the upshift warning light comes on and the car wants to drive off in second or 3rd gear...which makes the clutches slip..and im very concerned when this happens. The problem does go away and the upshift light dissappears and the car is fantastic to drive again.... but unfortunately the problem comes back usually the following morning, when its cold again....damn!!!

The module has been quoted to me as $350.00 Australian and im up for another $200 to fit the new one in. Im ok with the $350, but the $200 to fit its sounds a bit rich. My question is can I replace the module myself???

Can anyone out there tell me if this is any easy replacement job.
Firstly where is the module/computer???
Is it just a plug in once located???
Is it easly located??? Do I have to pull everything apart ot get to it???
Can I fit it myself??
or should I leave it to a pro as it needs resetting or any programming once its been fitted.

I would appreciate some answers urgently as I need to purchase this module before the weekend and hopefully get normal usage of the car, which I love sooo much.

Thank you
Regards
Kroner
