I purchased this car in December with about 125k on it. Since then its at 136k and it seems it needs a few things. I found a reputable shop in town that has been in business for almost 20 years. So I just wanted to know if the prices he is quoting me for these fixes are about right.
It needs new rear pads and rotors, that will be about $400
Timing belt change impending at 140k around $350
But it seems there are more complicated things. The abs module is bad, but the dashboard light has burned out, and I don't want to go through the trouble in replacing it.
However the two most important parts of the car aren't working. The sunroof, and the AC
One day the sunroof got stuck open. I frantically ran to the local dealer and they closed it, but they said it may be costly to fix. Well my indy mechanic says it may be upward of $700, as they think the drivers side track is broken. Would this cost have mostly to do with labor? Taking everything (including headliner and glass panel) down or are the parts really that expensive?
The last issue is the AC which works for about 5- 10 mins, very cold. Than suddenly turns warm. Is this the dreaded evaporator core, or is this a simple recharge?
I really appreciate the replys, thanks in advance.
