Outer Tie Rod End 850 1996

Hello All -
When changing outer tie rod ends (specifically, left side) is there anything that should be taken into account? Specifically, it seems as though steering might be off if one just takes the old tie rod off and puts the new one on. Am I missing the point? Is it just a matter of making sure it's tight on the inner tie rod, and that's that? Or does it need to be calibrated with the right side or something?

Sorry, but I was thinking about this before going to bed last night and it was throwing me off...
