Hey guys, I've got obnoxious brake squeal going on. I changed pads & rotors all around in September, and they've been squealing ever since, not getting any better or worse since then. He said after a certain amount of miles it would go away.....and it just doesn't seem like it will ever happen.
What happened is that I needed an inspection ASAP, and the combination of my usual guy being closed up and my busy schedule made it tough for me to get it done. I was getting tickets....so I took it to a Getty my friend recommended on a Saturday.
I really didn't need the brakes done right then & there, but since I had other issues going on, I accepted their desire to do this change just so I could pass. I believe they put on Bandex (sp?) pads...whatever it was, it wasn't OEM Volvo. And according to my mechanic, he claims that only OEM pads/rotors will be silent for the 850s....
So now I've been stuck between a rock & a hard place. I complained to the mechanic about it, but he was trying to brush it off as if it's not a big deal. He told me to bring the car in, and would "take care of it". I figure it would be tough to make him reimburse me for this (i'd take a partial reimbursement), so if he could at least curb either the volume, pitch, amount of times...whatever....I might be able to deal with it.
What do you guys think? Maybe resurface rotors, spray some stuff on it? Hopeless?
It's one thing to drop $600-700 on this sort of work....but to have to do it TWICE ....SUCKS.
Thanks,
Fellippe
