Innocent Amsoil Question V70-XC70 1998

I've been lurking around the board for about a year now because it's such a teriffic resouce. Lately I've been considering the pros and cons of switching the high mile 98 V70 T5 over to synthetic, and the information in the brickboard archives has served as one of many resources. Always used dino (not by design, but by default), and if I were to switch, I figured I'd use Mobil 1. My head must be buried in the sand, but I hadn't ever heard of Amsoil. But many here appear to prefer it over Mobil 1.

After reading pages and pages of testimonials, I started to look for a place to buy Amsoil and quickly learned that it's apparently sold primairly by "dealers." Went back to the sources, and saw that many of those who were singing it's praises were also "dealers." Then it hit me - as best I can tell, Amsoil is kind of like Mary Kay for car junkies. Don't mean that as an insult - it's just that the sales structure seems to be similar, both sell "premium" products that are, by most accounts, very good - and have earned this reputation by word-of-mouth.

I pose this question here becuase it drastically changes the way I look at oil advise on this board when I understand that many of the people who are saying it's OK to switch to synthetic @ 108K have a vested interest in a particular product. After all, like many here, I look to the brickboard for unbiased advise that comes from experience. Not trying to ruffle any feathers. Just looking for opinions on the matter. I'm sure I'll get 'em.
