Buy another Volvo??? V70-XC70

I have a 86 240D and a 98 v70 T5. With the 98 model it seems to me that i spent lots of money on maintenance and repair. I just recently had to spent lots of dollars for a new engine gasket. On the other hand the 86 one is a nearly maintenance free deal. Now is it my 98 one that needs lots of repair or in general all new Volvos. I am in the market to replace the 86 and I have a second thought to buy or not to buy another Volvo. I like the car and all safety features and all but repair costs are killing me. Please help to make a decision. Thank you.
