'94 850 crank no start 850 1994

I have ’94 850 non turbo with manual transmission.
Couple days ago my dear 850 just died while I was driving it. I had five people in the car. Luckily, I just pulled of the freeway and the rental company was just where I stopped. I rented a car and called AAA. So now it sits in my driveway and I am trying to figure out what is going on.
Fist, I though fuel pump died. I took of the cover and to my surprise I could definitely hear it running. I guess no easy diagnosis this time. I decided to check fuel filter. Fuel seems to be running freely and I can easily blow through the filter.
Then I cranked the engine with the disconnected fuel line to see if the pressure would increase but fuel was running exactly as it was running before. Is that normal or I should see increase in the amount of fuel going through the line.
When the car just died on the road I tried to check the fuel pressure in the fuel rail by depressing that valve on the driver’s side of the rail. There was no fuel coming out at all. That is why I started to suspect the fuel pump.
Also prior to this accident, occasionally, I had problems starting the car. I had to crank it twice. Once in a while it felt like it didn’t have enough power. During acceleration from complete stop it would jerk and almost stall. It would gain speed very slowly. I thought that was indication that the fuel pump was about to die and couldn’t hold the pressure or supply enough fuel. It didn’t do it all the time so I didn’t have a chance to verify it.
I would appreciate any advice. Tomorrow is Monday and I need this car to go to work.
