Weak spring fix for an 850 850 1993

My mechanic recently examined my springs/shocks due to very low clearance between the top of the tire and bottom of the wheel well and determined that both were in good working order. He suggested a product called "Spring Buddy" which is essentially a filler for the springs that stiffens the suspension. Any previous experiences/thoughts/words of wisdom?
