Vacuum leaks? P0172 Fault Code! S70 1998

Hi all
Trying to diagnose a P0172 Fault Code (Check Engine Light) on a 98 S70 Non-Turbo 96k miles. So far, with the help of a write-up at Volvospeed.com, I've found that the Cheap, Brittle corrigated plastic tube that goes downwind from the Air flow Meter has several small cracks when the band clamp connects. I'm toying with either of these ideas:
1. slap some epoxy on it and call it a day.
2. Fab up a new hose. The dealer (Brentwood Volvo) wants $30 for it!!! Ouch!
Any thoughts on this??

The other potential problem is the Rubber elbow that goes on the rear of the Intake Manifold by the power steering pump. I looks as though it is really soft and sucked itself closed. That's only a $2 part so I dont really care about replacing it.

Please tell me your thoughts! Am I barking up the wrong tree? Gas milage is not too good since the Fault Code popped up. Please help!
