SRS light reset 850 1996

I took the steering wheel off to fix the horn contacts using the epoxy method as listed on this website. Followed all the listed steps to the letter expect for one step. I turned the ignition on when I had the airbag off. This turned the SRS light on. As you might have guess now I am kicking myself in the back for missing this step.

I can't get it turn off!!!

Can I reset the SRS light on a 96 850 by clearing the ODBII diagnostic codes with a code reader?...or is the SRS light like the service light in that a special tool is needed?
