I replaced an Automatic tranny in a 95 850T a few months ago. I thought I had done everything right. After I put everything back together, I drove it around the block...but it only made it halfway, possibly a half mile before it showed symptoms like only being in Nuetral. So, I tow it home, and tried to flush the tranny...I realized the transmission pump was not working, and figured the transmission was bad.
Well, it turns out that since this was the first AT I had ever worked on, I didn't do the three clicks trick with the torque converter before installing the transmission. And now I just realized the other day that perhaps it is possible my transmission is still good, just needs to be removed and put the TC on properly. This is mostly wishful thinking, but is it likely that I didn't burn up the transmission in 1/4-1/2 mile driving around the block without the tranny pump engaged? (For what its worth, the car drove/shifted perfectly during the test drive)
Thanks in advance
