I have an elusive clunking come from the suspension of my 855 when I hit little bumps. Some say it might be sway bar links; others say it may be the upper spring seats of the front struts. Are there any simple tests I can do to determine the location/cause of the noise? Thanks to all in advance. I realize that if you live in New Orleans that I might have to wait a while for a response. ;-)

    My passenger side would thump whenever I hit a bump and it was the strut bushing. You really can't visably check this usless you take the strut apart.

    Simple test is to take the swaybar end-links nuts off of the anti-swaybars and drive around the block (don't want to drive very far in this condition) but if you do this and don't hear the clunking, then it's most likely the swaybar end-links. If this doesn't cure it, then we're talking the sping seats or even the strut mounts. I recently changed my struts, strut mounts and spring seats and the same clunking over small bumps continued. I was told the end-links were fine but under a tremendous amount of torque it was hard to know they were bad until they were taken off. When I replaced these (I replaced with IPD's heavy duty ones...you'll have to call them for these...they're only a couple of bucks more than the regular ones) my problem was gone and now I have really tight and smooth suspension.

    Bought my struts/shocks (Bilstien Touring), all mounts, etc. from www.shox.com (you'll have to call them for parts not listed on their site).

    Sway bar links would move of you pull them, they would give you "hitting " noise. The upper strut mounts may have visible cracks in the ruber.
