Burned out center brake bulb, relay under shifter now clicking loudly.

The center brake light on my 97 wagon burned out, and a relay of some sort under the center console, right by the gear shift, clicks loudly every time I step on the brake. I changed the bulb, the bulb warning light went out, but the relay continues to click loudly when I hit the brake. Is it heading south, or indicative of some other problem? Dick

Dick,
It's time to sell your car. It's falling apart right in front of your eyes!
The relay is probably shot and is what caused your center bulb to fail.
Fix it when you get back to the coast, if the wires aren't melted by then!!!
