flame trap V70-XC70 1998

I have a V70 with the non turbo engine. Where is the flame trap located? A recent move has left me without my trusty volvo mechanic of 18 years.

    Hey Patrick.
Your 98 won't have one - they were deemed unnecessary after '96.

      Thanks,

What I would like to know is...why did my shop replace mine regularly for the last 3 years? Before you say they ripped me off, I have to say that I could trust them with my life. Is it possible that they added it back? And for what reason?

I am now 1200 miles away from them so it's difficult to ask them.

      Patrick

If it has one (I don't think they do after 97) it's in the hose that runs from the air cleaner to the throttle body. There is a 90 deg elbow right before the throttle body. The FT holder is on the back side of that elbow, a PIT rear to get to.
