Fellow bricksters,

I have just bought a 2000 V70 with the dodgy ETM, it has 30K miles on the clock and has been perfectly serviced and I got it for the right price so I factored in the ETM $1,000 replacment cost (touch wood seems ok at he moment). Everything seems o.k. except for the right rear door lock refuses to move from the locked position even when using the remote lock.

At the moment not an issue however I am planning to look at it this weekend. Does anyone have any suggestion. Any feedback appreciated.

    I'm assuming the 2000 V70 has the same issues with door locks as the '98. If so, it's likely a red plastic tab in the lock mechanism is broken. The tab breaks when someone pulls the outside door handle on a locked door while the remote door opener is activated. The Bay 13 website has info explaining the failure mode and how to repair. I've repaired both of my rear door locks. It's a tedious procedure but can be done. Geeze, does anybody do reliability testing these days!?

      Thanks for everyone's comments, I have found the problem it sis my little 3 year old boy playing around with the locks. However I am going to keep an eye out for this as I know how reliable volvo electronics are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Its either the actuator in the door or the master switch in the drivers door. Unless someone else has an idea, about all you can do is to pull the rear door panel and do a bit of electrical tracing to see exactly what it is. I do hear though that the master switch is a bit weak in the 70 series, but they are not cheap enough to just replace one and see if that does it.

      Could be the child safety lock, but that would unlock when I use the remote control. At present I get zip/nothing!!!
