Turn Signal Bulb problem V70-XC70 2001

2001 V70 T5

My V70 has a bulb failure when using the left turn signal. I’ve replaced the problem bulb (an 1157 two prong amber) in the front of the car. The single prong that is recommended for the car doesn’t fit and the 1157 bulbs work fine and are the only ones that fit.

The 1157 bulb has two elements in it. One is supposed to be on all the time, as a driving light, and the other flashes for turning.

My problem is that the dimmer driving light bulb is the only one that flashes with the turn signal and the other element will not work (I’ve tried multiple new bulbs).

I’m all out of ideas.

Turn Signal Bulb problem V70-XC70 2001

The left headlight is in a very hot (engine heat) location. I had same problem when moisture built up inside the headlight lens, and the heat plus water caused very high heat and burned out the bulb when I used it after a long drive. I used a fan to dry out the lens, and put the rubber seal back in place. Solved my problem.
