A/C blower stops blowing, no code light are flashing 850 1995

Twice, the A/C blower would stop blowing. No trouble lights are flashing, and the compressor still seems to be running. If I turn off the car and restart it, all is well. This has happened twice in the last few weeks.

I don't want to start throwing parts at it without knowing what is wrong. I has read on this board that the problem might be the resistor pack (of the ACC version of the resistor pack.) Are there any tests to verify where the problem is? It seems to me that if the resistor pack was bad, then the unit would show an error code, but it does not.

I did notice something strange. We were driving home, and there is a hill that we went up. While going up this hill, the A/C off light came on. This car has ACC, so the light is on when the A/C is off. It went off after a second or two. I have never noticed this before, but I don't usually drive it at night, so I could miss the light in the day.

Anyway, ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Stuart

I have had mine stop time to time. As the other post says you can get acces to the motor - try also wiggling the connector on it. If perturbing the motor makes it run sometimes - take out the blower motor assembly (see Bay13 passenger dash access for how-to). Thoroughly clean up all the connections. You can remove the motor from the housing (1 screw). Clean up the commutator on the motor. Also relube the bearings (though they are the oil impregnated type). This has kept my motor going for more than 2 years. Eventually the brushes will wear to the point where you need a new motor.

Mine does this and has for years. This isnt a technical fix, but has worked for a while with me. I have 250,000 miles on mine and figure not to put alot more money into it as it is 11 years old. But, here's what I have done:

Take out your glove box, the blower is right behind there. Give it a whack. The bearings may be seized. You can also drill a small hole and put wd40 into the hole to grease the bearings. Like I say, it is not a tech fix, but has worked for 2+ years for me!
