Hi,
I note with concern that the most common and most expensive problem with s 80's seems to be that the above two modules fail.

I presume that they cost $1,000 each from the agents. are there other sources?
are they components that are perhaps shared with other european cars?

    The ETM is way to risky to repair, I can get them going but only on my own Volvos.

      Based on the comments on this board and a problem with my XC70, I filed a report with the National Highway Safety Admin last January. I recevied an e-mail this week from the investigator who is looking into the problem. I suggest anyone who has an experienced a failure of hte throttle module and how it affected the safety of your vehicle up to the time of failure, contact the below listed individual.

        Stephen McHenry has also made contact with me regarding my S80 ETM. It must be the same POS equipment on numerous models. File a complaint via their website and Stephen will be reaching out for you. Let's hope for a recall!!

      many thanks. At least abs modules problems are managable.keep up the good work

      Are the throttle modules used by other manufacturers? ie if it is say a bosch, I am wondering if it is a generic module or volvo specific?

      I am also wondering if the throttle module has been redesigned for the later S80's or if it still a problem
