Can you give more details? Is the roof up and it won't open? Or the reverse? What won't it do? What did the %$#@! mechanic do?

problems with convertable top C70 1999

Got the shocks changed. They needed to remove the back seats. Noticed this was more complicated than I had expected. And senced that something was gonna get screwed up. Tried to let my top down 2 days later. It would only come up from the rear 2 or 3 inches. When I kept trying it went further but would not come completly down. Also when trying to reposition it in the upright position it moved then froze. I read that the struts MUST be positioned just so or the motor would burn out. I was wondering if that is where they went wrong. Before then I never had a problem, Only rarely I did have to try 2 or 3 times to make the top latch on to the front windshield. So After taking it to Volvo ( WHere I should have taken it fron the start) And two hrs of diagnosing they said it was a sensor and a motor. Total cost $850.00 bucks. Ouch!!!! Just replaced the timing chain and water pump. Otherwise the car rung great, with over 110K miles. Any problems with yours??
