Poor Running/ Hall Effect Sensor 850

As detailed in a previous query, my wife's '94 Sedan (193Kmi.) is running very porly. The car starts fine but it stumbles, misses, and can barely get out of its own way until it finally builds some revs. Even then it never seems to gain any power, just smooths out the misses.

I'm still thinking it's a timing problem. What does the 850 have in the way of a hall effect or crank or cam sensor and where is it located? I pulled the upper cover off of the timing belt and saw nothing out of the ordinary.

The details: It hasn't spit any codes. Plugs are on the dark side of grey, but nothing out of the ordinary for the car. Cap and rotor and wires are good, recent fuel filter, no voltage issues. Fuel pump relay and MAF sensor swapped
with no changes.

Thanks again,

Will

Poor Running/ Hall Effect Sensor 850

    Thoughts:

Fuel pressure regulator, vacuum leak, Idle air control (IAC) valve (assuming 94 has one). No codes makes it kinda tough to figure without poking around. Problem is, that can get costly.

    Cam Sensor 850

I suppose I should have thought about a logical location for the cam sensor...opposite the distributor. So, yep, looks like a cam sensor. Anybody know how to diagnose it?

    Thanks,

      Cam Sensor 850

Alright, more thinking and less posting Will...

A car with a faulty cam sensor wouldn't start. An intermittent fault *should* trip a code.

Sticking with the timing theme, what else could it be? Skipped teeth on the belt from a funky tensioner? How much misalignment would it take?

Oh, for the simplicity of a 240's problems.
