AC Compressor won't engage S70 1998

Greatings
Just had a freon charge, and the compressor will not engage. Checked fuses and relay, both ok. Jumped the relay contacts and compressor started, cold air, it was great. What engages the relay? Schematic just says "Cimate Control" and ECC, manual has no other info. The fan works, no flashing LED signals. Any advice, I want to fix this on my own.

I have a 97 850 and i had the same problem and mine ended up being the compressor relay. It is behind the glove compartment mounted on the duct work. They are Green and there are two of them the one on the left controls the blower motor and the one on the right controls the compressor. The relay is about $ 30. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the response. I pulled the glove compartment and I was not able to locate a relay there. Is the relay you reference in addition to the one on the main fuse board in the engine compartment? Do you remeber the color of the wires going into the relay? Perhaps the 98 & 97 are different in the locations of these components.
