Bad Door Rattle 850 1997

It sounds like a coat hanger or thin rod clanging just under the door opener. Driver's side & driving me crazy. At Volvo parts they were too busy to pull a diagram to show what it might be, which was a surprise -they ususally do. Any thing to look out for other than not breaking any clips? Thanks.

    It is probably the rear lower window regulator rail inside the door. On my '96 850 this broke off at the tab which into which the screw passes from outside of the the door. Hard to explain but not hard to replace.

    www.alleurasianautopart.com sells them for around $25 their part # (O3042-152378). I don't know what the dealer price is.

    Of course this may not be your problem, but it was on mine. The replacement part was a little modified where the tab connects to the rest of the part, so I think that this was a weak spot which got an engineering change along the way. I don't recall any special tricks to removing the door inner panel, but it was quite some time ago.
