1996 850 air pump filling with water

Hello everyone.

I've had repeated problems with the air pump on my 96 850 filling up with water.

Was there ever a recall on this by Volvo?

Has anyone else experienced the problem? How did you keep it from reoccuring?

thanks in advance,

jbk

Get yourself a Haynes

The SAS is the Secondary Air System valve. It's by the firewall, cylindrical in shape.

Easy to find,by backtracking the hose from the air pump to the SAS valve.

you need to replace the SAS valve ASAP or your pump will die $$$.

Then drill the hole.

drill a very small hole (1/16)in the lowest portion(when mounted properly) of the blower fan housing.
When the blower comes on it will force the liquid that has accumulated out the hole. Unfortunately it will make a "hissing" noise since air will leak out.
