No error codes - system still not ready for State Inspection-any ideas??? V70-XC70

Hi, I need to get my car (1998 V70 GLT AWD 111,000 miles)inspected but everytime I check with my code scanner Evap, O2 Sens, 02 Sens Htr, keep showing up as "Not Ready". I replaced the evap purge sensor and cleared the codes. I have driven over 500 miles and abit in stop and go traffic also (as instructed by several mechanics included Volvo) but still getting "Not Ready". If something else was wrong with the vehicle wouldn't a faulty code show up? My Volvo mechanic has been out of town!! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks for your help. Ran the car over to one of the local dealerships and they were more than helpful. The Service advisor had the tech hook it up to their machine to see if my V70 was showing up "Ready" for state inspection and everything was set to go. The people at this place have always gone out of their way to help us out. Thanks again for all your help

I've had this same thing on another Volvo (96 850). I finally found an inspector who can wait a few minutes. Waiting a brief period while the car is being monitored allowed these systems to go from NOT READY to whatever they needed to be to pass. I suggest advising the technician that it takes some time to get these sensors to cooperate. If that does not work, I let my dealer do the last V70 (2004) inspection for me.

most higher end scan tools will tell you exactly what each test needs to be completed! If you do one at a time and follow the test parameters to the T You will get through the drive cycle! This can take a lot of varied driving and much time unless you have an idea of what exactly each test needs to be met!
Also as you most likely know every time you reset your codes th ewhole drive cycle test starts all over!
I usually place my scanner on my lap and go out driving very late when th eroads are empty! The last drive cycle I drove through had me home around midnight! But I was pretty happy when All tests showed ready!
Hope This helped a little!
Not really worth just driving around unless you have each tests parameters so that you can meet them! They are very specific!
