need advice on possible s70 purchace

Ok ok ok the salvage 850 turbo was a bad idea (see post below in 850 forum). New idea...

1999 V70 AWD Turbo

99K

"flawless inside and out"

from a wholesale dealer, NO SALVAGE TITLE

$5,650 (+ shipping of course, so maybe $6,100)

problem: its in Jersey and Im in NC

new round of questions

1) is there such a thing as an AWD Turbo? (the ad said 190 hp, Im assuming this ISNT a turbo)
2) what should I do besides asking for pics from the dealer?
3) people buy cars off ebay all the time, just how bad an idea is this? any worse than looking at a salvage turbo 850?
4) or keep the '93 850 with 133K

You guys are the first place I turn for Volvo information! Thanks!

Delic of NC,

I think you're getting good advice. In general it seems like you'd be better off with a car that has a known history. That said, and with full bias, I'm happy to speak with you about buying my black '96 850 Turbo wagon. It's listed in the Brickboard classifieds. Good luck with your search, or with fixing up the 93.

Stay away

from a '99 AWD.

You'll have problems with the ETS ($$$$ to fix) and the bevel gear for the AWD, $$$.

Your best bet is a '98 FWD T5.

The awd can be very costly to repair also the timeing belt should be replaced at 100 k on that car. assume it has not been doone unless there are records showing it was done. Also 99 and up s70 uses a electronic throttle system. I f this goes out and it alwats does eventually it will cost you about a thousand bucks. I have a 00 s70 turbo and it went out at 65k. Also I live in s.c and have a 94 850 turbo wagon for sale for $ 3,500 it has 160k miles I am the second owner and have lots of service records. It is white with tan leather, 3rd seat, factory cd changer and power everything.
Thanks
Dennis

Thanks yall, I didnt know any of that.

Sounds like the ETC would be a bit cheaper to fix than the A/C we just did on my '93. THAT was fun...

Dennis - thanks but no thanks bud, we are looking for something with fewer miles than my current car has.
