100,000 mile badge 850

I just received my 100k badge from Volvo for my 97 850-R. On the back it has a peel and press adhesive like the kind used on body emblems. Where is this emblem supposed to be placed? Engine compartment? It will not mount on the grill.

I have mine mounted on the grill and it is not going anywhere.
I once saw on an old 240 with a mileage badge and it had a small machine screw thru the center. Since I could not open his hood to see what was on the other side I created a small bracket out of wood with two female notches that
match/line-up with the back of the grill. Drill a hole thru the center of the piece of wood and then fasten it down with a lock washer and nut. There you have it! A nice clean look that does not bugger up your grill with glue and most folks will not try and steal it since it is fastened from the inside.
To put the finishing touch to it, I sprayed the face of the new badge with several clear coats from a Krylon type spray can for lasting protection.

A lot more folks will see your badge if you put it on the back of your brick. Stopped in traffic, they can even read it. I always back into parking spaces, in part to display our badges.

With a little planning, there is room for four in the recess that holds the license plate.

I have seen a 744 with four on the trunk lid!

I have placed mine on the rear facing edge of the trunk lid. Start at the Left side next to the Volvo emblem and space approx. 1" to Right. I have three on my 1986 Volvo 240 GL.

I made a bracket with left over brass and a couple of screws, all attaches to the grill. Didn't trust the double sided tape, so took it off and glued the badge to the brass plate.

I got a large washer with a screw that fit flush into the washer, ran it through the grill and put another washer on the other side and tighened it securely with a wingnut. Then adhered the emblem to that very well. I didn't want to stick it to a painted surface and it looks kinda cool on the grill.

I've seen these on eBay....is it cheaper there than from dealer and are they the same thing? Is there any benifit from registering as a 100K owner with the dealer in the first place?? Like to know everyone's 2cents on this...I'll be at 100K at my next oil change.

I might add that so far've gotten 4 100,000 mile, 1 200,000 and next month looking forward to a 300,000 at no cost. My understanding is they are not dealer items but Volvo Club items (Volvo Club part of Volvo?). At least that is where I've gotten mine. All you need is a valid VIN. Check the website for details: http://www.volvocars.us/_Tier2/Owners/HighMileageClub.htm

No, you need to register with the Volvo High Mileage Club. They will send a form. You put the mileage, year, model and VIN for your car. They will mail the badge. I believe you can find the link to them by doing a search on this site or if not, go to Google.

I just went to the link in the above message(http://www.volvocars.us/_Tier2/Owners/HighMileageClub.htm) and provided the information over the phone. They said it will take 3 to 8 weeks to send me my badge. VERY easy.
