2001 S40 Brakes S40-V40

I am getting ready to replace the pads on my S40 for the first time and have several questions.

Are there any special tools needed?

Can you compress the calipers with a c-clamp like most cars?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

SWS

The rear calipers need to rotate while being pushed in but I had perfect results using a 6in C-clamp. Just snug it down a little, back off, then crank down again and the piston will rotate freely while being pushed bck. No special tool.

I used Mintex pads from FCPGroton and am very happy with them. Braking is just as good as stock and the wheels stay cleaner.
