Shudder from front wheel on braking 850 1996

We're just back from a trip to the mountains, and I noticed - how could I help? - a shudder from what seems to be the right front wheel when braking on downhill runs. It does not happen right away, but after a while, and seems to go away if I run on the level or uphill for a while, as if the problem occurs when the brakes get hot.

Any ideas?

Could be rotors? Easy and inexpensive to replace. I did front rotors and pads for $110 total( with shipping) OEM form FGP Groten or ? And did a rebuild on the calipers for less than $20 at the same time. Now I have a rebuilt front brake assy for less than $150. And I feel good about this one.

Hi Bill ~ Mine had a shudder when braking, and had to drive a while for shudder (and wheel shimmy) to go away. Mine was a frozen caliper, which I believe is fairly common on our cars. You can put your hand on your wheels to see if they are running hot to verify this. In other words, wait for the shudder, get out and feel the wheels. If the brakes are dragging it won't take long to heat up. If you push it in this condition you will smell the brakes as well. In my case I got to it soon enough to avoid replacing linings and rotors - the caliper was around $45 rebuilt and a pretty easy job. By the way, is there an accompanying shimmy in the steering wheel? Don
