volvo themselves do a conversion kit to run on RME (rapeseed methyl ester) which is basically what you are describing... i think i have a copy of the service bulletin lying around at work somewhere, ive never had to do the conversion but from memory its not that involved.... diesel cars can run on almost anything....even CNG/LPG!

No only is it possible, lots of people have done it. Dr. Diesel invented the no plug engine because he wanted it to run on peanut oil! Veggie oil is a little dirtier and requires more dilligent fuel filters than peanut oil, but there are "green" reasons to use veggie oil ($$$).
Farmers in Minnesota are adding corn oil to their diesel tractors at 50/50 ratio without any re-tuning. It also gets rid of the black smoke at full throttle.
Do a Google search, you will be surprised!

    Hi Ben,
    You kidding, right????
The only vegetable I know that can produce 91 - 94 octane is a can of Libby's brown beans. (Even then, I don't think it's really a vegetable but a "legume")
But if this is a possibility let me know...

No, it's absolutely real. Check out greasecar.com and greasel.com, for starters. My question -- where can I get a diesel 850 in the first place? Never seen that! Would be very interested in acquiring one.
