Does Turbo need to be used Regularly S70 1998

98 s70 GLT Does it harm the turbo if I rarely engage it? I drive 15 miles one way twice a day and rarely engage the turbo and wonder if this harms the turbo by nonuse?

15 miles one way is about what I drive daily too and that's about average mileage. Your turbo's spinning all the time (working) whether you're stomping on the gas or not so don't worry about it. You don't need to race the car for any good reason, it's not a HP engine or race car by any means.

It will not harm the turbo. What is being harmed is your engine. It never fully warms up and water/sulfuric acid never get purged from the engine oils. Do your car a favor and drive it once in a while, it is a high performance machine and needs to stretch.
Make sure you change the oil every 3K miles/3 months.

      I would recommend S70 1998

that once a month you get onto a long entrance ramp, say 7AM on a Sunday and simply manual shift the automatic and rev the BJESUS out of the engine in each gear up to red-line! SERIOUSLY.........what this does is to stretch the engine to its maximum and allow for proper piston ring stretch and seating as well as the prevention of a ridge in the cylinder bores. You will prevent early oil consumption that typically happens on low usage engines as they get old.
