Manual to Auto Climate Control 850

I have a 96 855 with a manual A/C control. But would like to convert it to Automatic Climate Control. Is it possible? How hard is it to install? What are the things that i need to replace or add other than the control unit itself (the switch). Any sensors? Feedback please..

TIA

It's not just all that dashboard stuff either. The auto units have two tiny fans mounted in the roof behind the grab handles that suck air through small holes past a temp sensitive doide that sends info to the control unit. They typically develope a coating of dust that needs to be carefully cleaned/blown off now and again. You must want auto climate control awfully bad to even dream of doing this retro.

Not that I have ever done this mind, never even considered it 'til I read your post but I have worked on a bunch of both so I can kind of line out the obvious differences and let you stew on that for awhile.

4 or 5 electric servos, Vadis shows 5
    the harness
    the control panel/ecu
    a couple of sensors
    fan motor power stage

That is all that comes to mind off the top of my head. The MCC unit has an electrically driven recirc door so those motors might be interchangeable but I do not know that for certain. What you really need is a donor car.

As far as feasibility goes, yeah sure I guess it could be done. I would not pussy foot around with the damn thing, I would rip the dash and climate control box out of both cars and make the swap. To heck with trying to snake something in and out on it. I can tell you one thing though, if you decide to go for it you will have your work cut out for you.
