Emission system service required S80 1999

Over the last 6 years that I owned this S80-T6 this message frequently appeared without me noticing anything wrong with the car performance and I used to bring it to the dealer and they would "fix" it. Now that the car is no longer under warranty, I would like to know if there is an easy way to reset the warning light and message.

    You need to read the codes, DTC, and we may be able to give you some information.
    You may go to an Autozone and borrow their OBDII code reader.

      I have the same problem. My 99 s80 had the evap system/emissions service message at 99,548 miles. Took it to my local mechanic and he said that the code was PO442. They tested the system and found nothing and cleared the code.
      Now I'm at 100,900 miles and it is back on. Car runs normal.

      Vitor,

      appreciate your comment but the only thing I want to do here is reset the message. Again this has happen lot's of time under warranty, the car runs great and all that the dealer did in these cases was to reset the message. I am wondering if there is an easy way to reset it like disconnecting the battery or taking out a fuse.

        To reset the message or erase it, you must read and delete the trouble codes.
        No way around.

          Actually, I have this same error message come up every once in awhile. If you pop open the fuse box under the hood and pull out the 5 amp fuse, wait a second, then plug it back in, It will reset all the messages. At least until the car notices whatever is causing the Emission error again.
