Help 850 transmission slipping and noisy

hi I have a 1994 850 turbo 301,000 my trans started making a clunking noise while in gear but not nuetral or park. Almost sounds as something is in there clunking around. so i flushed the fluid. when i drove it the noise was still there then at about 20 miles i lost drive. i pulled over shut it off, restarted it and it drove for about 200 feet then just slipped. finially the arrow flashed and I got a code 322 and the check engine light came on and i got a 414 on the A2 which may have been from the engine reving with no drive. Where should I buy a tranny and torque converter for a good price if that is the problem? Can noise from the trans area be anything but time for new tranny? ANY HELP PLEASE

    Rick,
You have two options, call a dealer or look at a junk yard. In either case, look for a 1997 tranny. Junk yards are OK if the tranny is still connected to the engine and nothing is bent :) If it is still in the car, check the milage.
Dealers in the USA charge an arm and a leg for a new one, plus they expect to install it for you at $120/hr. But they also guarentee it for a year.

Klaus, who is losing his BW35 tranny in the 75 164 :(

The 97 tranny has an internal filter(metal) and slightly stronger parts. It supposedly drops right in without any mods? In this case, new is better. Still, call junk yards and ask for trannies and cost. You may be surprised. The pick&pulls around here consider 850's too new, so we have to go to already dismantled junk yards.
