hi I have a 1994 850 turbo 301,000 my trans started making a clunking noise while in gear but not nuetral or park. Almost sounds as something is in there clunking around. so i flushed the fluid. when i drove it the noise was still there then at about 20 miles i lost drive. i pulled over shut it off and it drove for about 200 feet then just slipped. finially the arrow flashed and I got a code 322 and the check engine light came on and i got a 414 on the A2 which may have been from the engine reving with no drive. Where should I buy a tranny and torque converter for a good price if that is the problem? Can noise from the trans area be anything but time for new tranny?

Sure sounds like new tranny time doesn't it? I know it is not the cheapest way to go but I always just get mine from the local Volvo dealer. Sounds like your last on went 300K, that's not too bad. I would not go to all of the hassle of putting a trans in that car and then put in a used one, bad idea.

I talked to AAmco They got a guy who has 30 years experience and has done everything from rolls ryoce to porche. Will rebuid mine for 1000-2000.00 I may go this way. How long do these cars last? It seems like forever.

They are all Polacks down there, the Swedes came to MN!! Ask about their guarentee at AAmco. And don't forget to call the dealers.

Polish are hard working people though I'm German so no insult taken. I will ask about there gaurentee,thanks. Volvo wants 3500-4 grand. Aamco 1-2grand. They rebuild the trans that is in the car.I guess I'm talking myself into it. Also, I do respect your opinion. Rick.

Back in to good old days, my Dad's 59 Ford had a tranny go out and he went to AAmco to have it fixed. A month later it died again. They said it was unrelated to the first problem (bad rear pump) and the guarentee was only for the rear pump! Be careful...
You have 300K on your car. You could buy another 94 850 for $3,000 which has less than 200K miles and use your current car for parts. Unless you are going for a million miles, why bother?
