Door Lock Gremlins V70-XC70 2001

Hello,

My good friend is reporting some odd gremlins with his V70. I've never had a similar problem so was unable to help.

He claims that sometimes the passenger (all) will not lock with fob or door button except the driver. If he works at it he can get it to finally lock. As well he reports that sometimes the rear passenger side door will lock while driving down the road.

Any ideas as to what might be the culprit here?

Thanks

Mike

My T5 does some wierd stuff too. When I hit a bump, the driver's only knob will go down. If I hit the door panel with my knee, it will go down too. I haven't been brave enough to take the door panel off but I suspect a loose or shorted wire.

My driver side door lock would unlock with the rest, and then when I went to open the door, the lock would pop back down again so the door would not open. As if the lock knob was playing hide and seek from me when I would try to open the door!
My indie Volvo Mech has solved the problem by taking off the knob (I don't need it anyway), saying it was getting caught on the door trim, or door trim glue. We didn't have time to go cleaning the door trim but will look at it later and put the knob back on.

    Loose wire or bad connection...
Open the door panel (see bay13) and you will see lots of wires tied together coming out from the door hollow (I hope you know what I mean).
The weakest point is where the wires tied together.. sometimes the wire nearly cut at that point. If you push and pull the wires while locking the door, the other lock will sometimes work.
