how can i tell if my PNP switch is bad 850

how can i tell if my PNP switch is bad i have tried things like rowing the shifter and wiggiling it but the car still has not started how much would a new PNP swith cost and how hard would it be to install.

thanks so much for your help

Is your only symptom not starting? I think there are other things I would suspect forst. If the PNP was bad it usually goes gradually: you'd have the arrow on the dash flashing intermittently, car would sometimes seem stuck in third gear especially on cold mornings.

Hi,
Sure sounds like the PNP switch. Have you experienced intermittent "no starts"? My wife`s 850 had the "no start" symptom for several months before finally, one day the 850 just wouldn`t start period!! Put in a new PNP switch & she was mobile again.
