When struts & shocks need to be replaced 850

I have a 1995 850 GTA sedan that had the rear shocks replaced under warranty around 20,000 miles. The front struts are original and the car now hass 110,000 miles. I notice the rear rides a little harder, slapping under bumps but the front seems OK. is there any rule of thumb for replacement time on tstruts or shocks (other than when they start to leak?)

Thanks.

I replaced the original front and rear struts/shocks at 110,000 miles on my '95 850 GLT and was amazed at the improvement in the ride. I had Bilstein Touring Class struts installed.

On the fronts just replace them every other time the spring seats blow out and you'll be just about right. Seriously though if you are waiting for the struts to blow out completely it is going to be a long wait. Suspension wear varies greatly from one owner to the next. If you still have the originals in there at 150K it probably would not be a bad idea to stuff in new ones and replace the spring seats while you are at it.
