more on the cupholder thing...... S70

"My sports car has no cup holders, and my coffee table has no steering wheel. All is as it should be" Annonymouns

Well, with a 90+ mile one way drive to and from work every day, I kind of need a cup holder. Just because your penis doesn't come with a bottle of Viagra when you are born, doesn't mean you may not need it later in life. And I hardly thought of my old 1990 740 as a SPORTS Car.

(oh, and it should be spelled: anonymous)

Cup holders are a good thing, but I think it should end there. We should leave eating for cafes, shave and apply make up at home, and let voice mail answer the phone. If we all were more aware, maybe there would not be so many tragic accidents.

I have an S70 too. I have cup holders (2 of them) in the pull-out thingy in the arm rest, but I can't believe there is none for the back seat. If you're on a long trip the front cup-holders are essential, for instance, to sip on that coffee in order to stay alert. So, I see these as helping me avoid accidents. However, the person/people in the back always complain that there isn't anywhere to sit drinks. I predict frequent spills and having to pay attention to these...and these for certain would have me peering back over my shoulder and taking my eyes and mind off of the road. Therefore, to me it is much more dangerous NOT to have cup holders in this car.

FYI 850 cup holders are offered on IPD (even though very expensive...they screw into the side of the door and match the interior color, folding away to a square flat surface when not in use) but they are not offered for the S70. I was wondering if anyone has come up with a good solution for us, similar or not with what is offered for the 850's? I assume that what is offered for the 850 is for tha back and not the front (the front has the pull-out thingy in the middle arm rest).

The '94 850 we used to have had cup holders that pulled out of the rear of the front arm rest. I didn't like the wire "swing-down" contraption that was constantly tearing up and needing my attention for adjustment or repair, but at least there was something to put a cup or two in. It's a shame that these were done away with completely in the S/V70 )'98-'00)cars.

      Any Ideas?

uhhh...am i mistaken or do not all s70's have two rear seat cup holders built into the flip-down "arm rest" in the middle of the back seat?

in our '99 s70 t5, when you pull the the "arm rest" (also acts as a pass-through to the trunk for skis, other long, narrow items, etc.) in the middle of the back seat down, push in on the front plastic panel and that section should open, revealing two cup holders...

        hope that helps...

Nope...arm rest only on my car...no cup holders. Mine's a '98. Maybe they did something about this on later model S70's...don't know if it was standard though.
