Drive Belt Life S40-V40

Hi and thanks for reading this. Volvo reccomends changing the drive belt at 60K miles. My dealer says to change it with the Timing belt, just over 100K miles. What experience have people with theses belts.
Thanks

I agree with the dealer, I just had my timing belt done for the 1st time at 105k, and because the top of the engine is open its easy to do the drive belt, no extra labor! I would have to look up when the last time it was done. I had to have done it sometime around 50-60k. Bill/VT

The manual for my 2001 S40 says 105k miles.

Thanks for your reply. The 00 manual says 60K miles to change belt. Maybe it was a mistake and the updated it in the 01 manual.
Thanks,
Craig

Craig

Are you guys talking about the same belt?

The serpentine belt is different than the Timing belt which in my 00 manual states 105000 miles. I think the serpentine accesory belt should be changed or at least looked at for cracks.

I haven't done it yet, change the serpentine belt, but it looks fairly easy to do yourself.

Easy for the do it yourselfer? Miker never met a mechanic like me! Of course, I'm a guy who can screw up anything mechanical. Guess I just never learned howto do it right.
