directional switch 850 1995

just bought a '95 glt, had a broken directional switch, so I went to the junk yard for a replacement. Pop the new switch in, will not activate turn signals in either direction, but will turn high beams on/off. emergency flasher works. Do these switches fail commonly? If the 4ways work, is that all the same circuit or do the directionals have a separate relay? appreciate any input.

Do your backup lights work? They share the same fuse as the turn signals (fuse 27 - 15 amp...). But no, it's not real common for the turn signal function of the stalk to fail. I suppose if you had a digital multi-meter you could test the switch.

Ok, that was it. Thanks for pointing out the obvious (I really did assume it was the same circuit as the 4-way)
