S70 non-turbo w/AW5 tranny, what fluid do I use? S70 2000

Hello, I have a 2000 non-turbo car with the 5 speed auto tranny. The owners manual specifies that with the "AW5" transmission, you need to use "Volvo Gearbox Oil" (which is a synthetic from what i understand) and it gives a Volvo part number. My car has 53K miles and i can safely assume by the looks of the oil that it has never had a tranny flush.

Must I use the synthetic tranny fluid?
Any thoughts or help in this area would be really appreciated!!!

Why not use exactly what the manual specifies? Cheap compared to a new trans. S70 2000

If the Volvo spec is "Volvo 116154" you might want to check the Mobil web site. I'm including the link for product data sheet for Mobi ATF3309.

hey, thanks for the link, I have tried to find out who makes it and got no help from my oil supplier, now the next big question. Where can you buy it?

YES the AW5 requires only synthetic oil no dino The 4 can use either.
